Why does Kudos say "Extension Not Installed" on iOS?

If your Kudos Wallet shows a red "Extension not installed" status under How It Works, it means Kudos can't detect the browser extension yet. It's an easy fix.

If you've installed the Kudos Safari extension on your iPhone or iPad but the app still shows an "Extension not installed" banner, this usually comes down to one setting: Safari extension permissions. The Kudos app needs the Safari extension to have permission to run on all websites, not just some. If your extension is set to a limited "Allow" permission instead of "Allow on All Websites," the app won't recognize it as fully connected, even though it's installed.

Here's how to fix it:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPad

  2. Go to Safari > Extensions > Kudos

  3. Tap Other Websites

  4. Change the permission to Allow (this grants access to all websites)

Why This Permission Is Needed

Kudos needs access to all websites so it can:

  • Autofill your card information at checkout

  • Automatically activate card-linked offers

  • Show you the best card to use for each purchase

Still Showing "Extension Not Installed"?

If you've updated the permission above and the app still isn't recognizing the extension, it's likely a sync issue between Safari and the Kudos app. Try these steps in order.

1. Force the extension to sync (start here)

  1. Open Safari on your iPad, not the Kudos app

  2. Visit any website, like google.com

  3. Wait 10 to 15 seconds on that page

  4. Switch back to the Kudos app

This forces the Safari extension to activate and sync your permission settings with the app.

2. Double-check the permission setting

Sometimes it looks enabled but isn't set correctly.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Extensions > Kudos

  2. Tap Other Websites

  3. Make sure it's set to Allow, not Ask or Deny

  4. If it's anything other than Allow, change it now

3. Force close both apps

  1. Force close the Kudos app

  2. Force close Safari

  3. Wait 5 seconds

  4. Open Safari first and visit any website

  5. Wait 10 seconds, then open the Kudos app

4. Check Safari's extension menu

  1. With Safari open, tap the aA icon in the address bar

  2. Look for Kudos in the extensions list

  3. Make sure it shows as enabled

  4. If you see a "Review" prompt, tap it and complete the permission flow

5. Toggle the extension (last resort)

  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Extensions > Kudos

  2. Toggle "Allow Extension" off, then back on

  3. Re-confirm Other Websites is set to Allow

  4. Open Safari, visit a website, and wait 10 seconds

  5. Return to the Kudos app
