What should I know about boosting rewards for Expedia purchases with Kudos?

Updated over a week ago

If you're looking to maximize your rewards with Kudos Boost on Expedia purchases, it's essential to understand the eligibility rules and processes. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you.

Introduction to Boost Rewards Eligibility

Kudos Boost allows users to earn additional rewards on qualifying purchases made through merchants like Expedia. However, not all purchase types are eligible due to merchant-specific policies and technical factors like network attribution.

Merchant Exclusions for Expedia Purchases

Certain exclusions apply to Expedia purchases when earning Kudos Boost rewards:

  • Flight bookings are not eligible for Kudos Boost rewards. This restriction is set by Expedia and must be adhered to.

  • Flight-and-hotel packages may also be ineligible if the purchase is attributed to a different affiliate network. Attribution determines whether Kudos receives credit for the purchase and impacts rewards eligibility.

Ensuring Eligibility for Rewards

Follow these steps to increase the likelihood of earning Kudos Boost rewards on your Expedia purchases:

  1. Check the Exclusions List – Before making a purchase, review the eligible and excluded categories to ensure your transaction qualifies for Kudos rewards. You can check these from our web portal or in the Kudos modal when you activate Expedia

  2. Activate Kudos Boost – Always activate Kudos Boost before checkout and autofill your debit or credit card to apply.

  3. Complete Purchase Within the Same Session – Ensure that the checkout process is completed in a single browser session after activating Kudos Boost to avoid tracking issues.

Timeline for Rewards Confirmation

Travel merchants like Expedia operate on longer commission timelines than most other retailers. Here's why:

Kudos does not receive a commission from Expedia or other travel merchants until after a trip has been fully completed and consumed, meaning your stay, flight, or booking must first take place before the merchant processes the affiliate transaction.

This can happen up to 90 days after your trip ends, and in some cases, even longer, depending on the merchant.

Because of this, rewards on travel purchases typically take 60–90 days to be confirmed from the date of your trip's completion, not from the date of booking. This timeline is standard across the travel industry and applies to Expedia and similar merchants.

We appreciate your patience and want to make sure you have full visibility into why travel rewards take longer to post than everyday purchases.
